Prepare for Ballet Summer Intensive: Essential Packing Guide

Getting ready for your Ballet Summer Intensive? Proper preparation is key to getting the most out of your experience. At Mara Dancewear, we've put together the ultimate packing list to ensure you have everything you need for a successful intensive!

Ballet Shoes

  • Ballet slippers and pointe shoes: Make sure you have enough pairs of properly fitted pointe shoes and ballet slippers. It's generally recommended to bring one pair of pointe shoes per week of training and at least two pairs of ballet slippers.
  • Other dance shoes: If your intensive includes other dance styles such as jazz, tap, or character dance, bring the appropriate dance shoes to meet the needs of your program.

Dance Clothing

  • Ballet leotards: Pack a variety of leotards in different styles and colors. It will probably be hot, so it is a good idea to choose breathable fabrics so that you are comfortable and fresh during long hours of practice. Be sure to check if your program has a specific dress code or clothing requirements.
  • Ballet tights: Bring more tights than you think you will need! Convertible tights are always a good choice.
  • Warm-Up Clothing: Include items such as warm-up pants, booties, and leg warmers to keep your muscles warm. Our lightweight warm-up pants are perfect for the hot season!
  • Ballet skirts: Don't forget to pack ballet skirts! They are versatile and perfect to wear over your leotard for an extra touch of elegance.

Dance Accessories

  • Hair supplies: Stock up on hair ties, hair pins, hair gel, and hair nets to keep your hair tidy during the day.
  • Pointe Shoe Accessories: Bring at least 2 pairs of pointe shoe toe pads. If you wear spacers or tapes, pack extra. Also, don't forget your sewing kit.
  • Dance bag: A spacious dance bag with multiple compartments will help you stay organized.
  • Other training accessories: Bring resistance bands for warm-ups and strength exercises, and a foam roller to help with muscle recovery.

Personal Care

  • First aid supplies: Band-Aids, blister pads, and any other personal care items you may need for minor injuries.
  • Water bottle: Staying hydrated is key during these intense training sessions.
  • Snacks: Carry healthy snacks like nuts, fruit, and protein bars to keep your energy up throughout the day.
  • Other items: Remember to pack your essentials personal items such as makeup and hygiene products like shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, body wash, etc.

Packing properly for a summer ballet intensive is essential to a successful experience. Follow this packing list to ensure you have everything you need. Stay organized, embrace the journey, and enjoy your dance summer!
